Anthem of the Seas General review

I had the pleasure of sailing for seven days on Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas out of Bayonne and I had an absolute great time. I am going to give a short overall review and then I will look at Dining, cabins, entertainment, activities, family activities, ports of call, service from crew members, embarkation, debarkation and looks of the ship all separately.

We left on October 28, on a seasonally warm day in NJ. It took 2 days at Seas to arrive at our first port, Port Canaveral. Those first 2 days were pretty rough but not horrible. The ship was going through a nor’ easter and just missing a tropical storm or depression near the Bahamas which made waters rough. The good thing is the Anthem is so big that you didn’t feel the rough Seas as much as you could a smaller ship.

The Anthem had 4700 passengers on board  and you could tell. Since the weather was bad no one was out on the pool deck or the top deck, so all public areas were very crowded. The Esplanade was jam packed during the day with everyone looking for deals. It was hard to walk through. The Windjammer buffet was always annoyingly crowded and very hard to maneuver from station to station. But, no matter how crowded we never had trouble finding a table for the 6 people in my traveling party. You got used to the crowd and learned to deal with it. The eating areas could have been bigger with more tables to accommodate the amount of people, but like I said we always found a table.

The decor on the ship is modern and very nice. The ship always seemed clean in public areas with the staff keeping up on the upkeep of the ship.

Overall, with rating this ship and a scale of 1 star which is the worst and 5 stars being extraordinary, I give the Anthem of the Seas 4 stars. There were some things that I did not like and were not good but for the most part the ship met my expectations band was a very good experience. When I go through each category I will run down what I thought was exceptional, good and bad with category. My biggest issue was with the ports, but I foresaw that and knew what I was getting into, so I was not too disappointed.
